— WHY ON POINT?
Most patients come in with one complaint. They leave understanding they had one problem.
You can't sleep. Your stomach has been off for months. You're irritable, exhausted, and running on adrenaline you didn't ask for. Three different doctors gave you three different prescriptions — a sleep aid, an antacid, an SSRI — and none of them talked to each other.
Here's what's actually happening: your autonomic nervous system has two settings. Sympathetic — fight or flight. Parasympathetic — rest, digest, repair. You are supposed to move fluidly between them. Chronic stress locks you into the first one and leaves you there.
And in fight-or-flight, your body makes a very reasonable decision. It shuts down digestion. It suppresses deep sleep. It floods you with cortisol. That's not malfunction. That's your body doing exactly what it was designed to do — in a situation that never ends.
Your body isn't broken. It's dysregulated.
Acupuncture points are reset buttons. They work through mechanism, not belief — vagal tone, cortisol regulation, blood flow, neurotransmitter signaling. You don't have to understand it for it to execute. You just have to show up consistently enough for the pattern to hold.
That's what we do here. Performance Medicine, Rooted in TCM.

— CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Click any condition for a full explanation of how we address it.
Your body is stuck in fight-or-flight; acupuncture flips it back by activating the vagus nerve and lowering your cortisol baseline.
Tired all day, wired all night; we restore your natural cortisol rhythm so you get deep, restorative sleep instead of sedation.
Your gut can't digest under threat; treatment regulates the gut-brain axis and restores blood flow and motility so food stops being a gamble.
We treat the sleep, nutrient absorption, and neurotransmitter regulation your brain builds mood from, working alongside your therapy or medication rather than replacing it.
Stubborn weight is usually a cortisol, sleep, and digestion problem, not a willpower one; we regulate the metabolic system working against you and manage GLP-1 side effects so your medication stays survivable.
— OUR APPROACH
Every patient leaves knowing more about their body than when they arrived. Tongue diagnosis, breathing, hydration, lifestyle, TCM dietary guidance — the foundation that makes results last.
Tongue diagnosis — your body's real-time dashboard
Nervous system regulation through breathing
Hydration strategies that directly affect pain levels
TCM dietary guidance for inflammation reduction
Lifestyle habits that extend results between sessions
— STRESS & ANXIETY
You're not "bad at handling stress." You're stuck in a physiological state you can't think your way out of.
Chronic sympathetic activation looks like this: shallow breathing, tight jaw and shoulders, a heart rate that spikes over nothing, racing thoughts at 11pm, decision fatigue by 2pm. You've tried breathwork. You've tried meditation apps. They help for twenty minutes because they're asking a dysregulated nervous system to regulate itself using willpower.
Acupuncture doesn't ask. It intervenes.

Our diagnostic edge: Kalpesh reads your tongue at every visit. The surface maps to organ systems; the sublingual veins reveal blood circulation quality. A pale, scalloped tongue tells a different story than a red one with a dry coat — and those two patients get two different treatment plans, even if they both walked in saying "anxiety."
Vagal stimulation — specific points activate the parasympathetic branch directly, shifting you out of fight-or-flight without requiring conscious effort
HPA axis regulation — treatment influences the cortisol cascade, lowering your baseline stress load rather than just blunting the spikes
Neurotransmitter modulation — acupuncture affects serotonin, GABA, and endorphin availability, the same targets pharmaceutical anxiolytics aim at, without the sedation or the dependency
Electroacupuncture — for stubborn cases, low-frequency electrical stimulation delivers a stronger, more consistent signal than manual needling alone
Both, and they're not separate things. The relaxation is the mechanism — a measurable shift in autonomic tone. Research has documented changes in heart rate variability, cortisol levels, and inflammatory markers following treatment. The calm you feel on the table is your nervous system changing state, not a placebo mood.
Yes. Acupuncture doesn't interact with SSRIs, SNRIs, benzodiazepines, or beta blockers. Many patients use it alongside medication and, over time, work with their prescribing physician on adjustments. We never advise changing your medication — that's your physician's call. We just give your nervous system another lever.
Most patients notice something after the first visit — usually sleep quality or a drop in physical tension. Durable change typically takes 6–8 sessions. Anxiety that's been building for a decade doesn't unwind in two appointments.
Acupuncture needles are roughly the width of a human hair — about forty of them fit inside the barrel of a standard blood draw needle. Most patients feel a brief dull heaviness at the point, then nothing. If you're needle-averse, tell Kalpesh; we can start with fewer points and a gentler technique.
— SLEEP & INSOMNIA
There are three kinds of bad sleep, and they aren't the same problem.
You can't fall asleep. Your body is tired but your mind won't stop. That's excess sympathetic tone at bedtime — cortisol that should have dropped at 9pm and didn't.
You wake at 2 or 3am. You fall asleep fine, then you're wide awake in the dark for ninety minutes. In TCM terms this is a liver-timing pattern; in physiological terms it's often a blood sugar and cortisol rhythm problem layered on top of a nervous system that never fully downshifted.
You sleep eight hours and wake exhausted. You're getting quantity, not depth. Little to no restorative slow-wave sleep. This is the most under-diagnosed of the three, and the most common in high performers.
Sleeping pills address the first one, badly, by sedating you into unconsciousness — which is not the same as sleep. They do nothing for depth or architecture.

What your tongue tells us about your sleep
A red tongue tip with a thin coat points to heat and agitation — the "can't fall asleep" pattern. A pale, swollen tongue with a thick coat points to depletion — the "sleep all night, wake exhausted" pattern. Same complaint, opposite treatment. This is why we don't hand out a generic insomnia protocol.
Circadian and melatonin signaling — treatment supports the natural evening drop in cortisol, so your body gets the "it's night" signal on schedule
Sleep architecture, not sedation — patients report deeper, more restorative sleep, not just more hours of it
Blood flow to the brain — improved circulation supports the repair processes that only happen in deep sleep
Electroacupuncture — particularly effective for the 3am-waking pattern, where manual needling alone often plateaus
Many patients sleep noticeably better the night of their first treatment — that's the acute parasympathetic shift. Holding that improvement takes consistency, usually 6–10 sessions over four to six weeks. The goal isn't one good night. It's a new baseline.
Many patients reduce their reliance over time, but never taper on your own — some sleep medications cause rebound insomnia or worse if stopped abruptly. Work with your prescribing physician. Our role is to improve your sleep quality enough that the conversation with your doctor becomes worth having.
That consistency is the clue — it means it's rhythmic, not random. In TCM, the 1–3am window maps to the liver, associated with stress processing and blood storage. Physiologically it often reflects a cortisol rhythm that's inverted and a blood sugar dip. We treat both the pattern and the underlying dysregulation driving it.
This is one of our most common presentations, and often the most responsive. You're getting quantity without depth. Treatment aims at sleep architecture — the restorative stages your body actually repairs in — rather than just knocking you out longer.
Either works; the therapeutic effect isn't time-of-day dependent. Practically, some patients love an evening slot because they go home relaxed and sleep well that night. Book whatever you'll actually keep — consistency matters far more than timing.
— DIGESTIVE HEALTH
Here's a fact worth sitting with: your gut has more neurons than your spinal cord. It runs on the same nervous system that's currently stuck in overdrive.
Digestion is a parasympathetic function. It happens in rest-and-digest mode — it's literally in the name. If you're living in fight-or-flight, your body deprioritizes digestion because it doesn't matter whether you break down lunch efficiently while you're running from a threat. Blood flow gets pulled from the gut to the muscles. Motility slows. Enzyme production drops.
Then you eat a sandwich at your desk in eleven minutes and wonder why you're bloated.

The temperature signal
One question we ask that most providers don't: are your hands and feet cold? Chronically cold extremities alongside sluggish digestion is a metabolic and circulatory pattern, not a coincidence. It changes how we treat — and it's the kind of detail that only surfaces when someone's actually looking for it.
Bloating and post-meal distension
IBS — both constipation-predominant and diarrhea-predominant
Acid reflux and GERD
Nausea, including chemotherapy-induced and post-surgical
Irregular bowel patterns
Loss of appetite or constant hunger
Food sensitivities that seem to multiply over time
Vagal tone and gut-brain signaling — the vagus nerve is the main line between brain and gut; acupuncture directly influences it
Motility regulation — treatment can normalize gastric emptying and intestinal transit in either direction, speeding up what's stagnant and calming what's overactive
Inflammation — acupuncture influences inflammatory markers relevant to gut lining integrity
Blood flow — circulation to the digestive organs improves, supporting absorption and repair
Herbal medicine — for many digestive cases, a customized herbal formula alongside treatment substantially accelerates results
Yes, and IBS is a strong fit for this medicine specifically because it's a functional disorder — the structure is normal, the regulation isn't. That's exactly what acupuncture addresses. Treatment targets the gut-brain axis driving the symptoms rather than chasing each flare individually.
Diet matters, and Kalpesh will give you specific guidance based on your pattern — but we're not going to hand you a restrictive elimination protocol on day one. Many patients find their tolerance widens as treatment progresses, because the problem was rarely the food itself. It was a digestive system that couldn't handle anything.
A probiotic adds bacteria. It doesn't change whether your gut is in a state that can use them. Acupuncture addresses the nervous system regulation, blood flow, and motility that determine whether anything you swallow — food, supplement, or probiotic — actually gets processed. They're not competitors; one just works upstream of the other.
Yes. Reflux is often a motility and lower esophageal sphincter tone issue rather than an acid overproduction issue — which is why PPIs manage symptoms indefinitely without resolving anything. Acupuncture addresses gastric emptying and vagal regulation. Patients frequently reduce their reliance on daily acid suppression over time, in coordination with their physician.
Completely, and it's the most important thing you could have noticed. That's the gut-brain axis doing exactly what it does. It also means we don't have to choose which one to treat — addressing the nervous system dysregulation improves both, because both were symptoms of the same thing.
Typically 8–12 for meaningful change, often with herbal support. Digestive patterns are usually years in the making and respond steadily rather than dramatically. Most patients notice bloating improving first.
— MOOD & EMOTIONAL HEALTH
There's a difference between having a hard week and living in a body that's stopped producing the raw material for feeling okay.
You know the difference. The hard week ends. This doesn't. The flatness, the effort it takes to answer a text, the sense that you're watching your own life through glass — you've tried to reason your way out of it and discovered that reasoning isn't the lever. It never was.
Mood isn't a character trait. It's a physiological output. Serotonin, dopamine, and GABA are manufactured from nutrients your gut has to actually absorb, regulated by a nervous system that has to actually downshift, consolidated during sleep stages you have to actually reach. Break any link in that chain and mood degrades — not because you're weak, but because the machinery is running short.
Chronic stress breaks all three links at once. That's why depression, insomnia, and digestive trouble travel together so reliably. It's one system failing, showing up in three places.

What we're actually reading...
Two patients say "I'm depressed" and get two different treatment plans. A pale, swollen tongue with a thick coat and cold hands points to depletion — someone running on empty who needs to be rebuilt. A red tongue with a dry coat and a wiry pulse points to constraint — someone whose system is wound tight and stuck. Same word, opposite physiology. This is why generic protocols underperform, and why Kalpesh reads your tongue at every single visit rather than just the first.
Depression and persistent low mood
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
Emotional overwhelm and reactivity
Grief and life-transition distress
Seasonal mood changes
Postpartum mood shifts
Irritability and short fuse that doesn't match the situation
The flat, numb, nothing-feels-like-anything state
Neurotransmitter regulation — acupuncture influences serotonin, dopamine, and endorphin availability, targeting the same systems antidepressants act on, through a different mechanism
HPA axis recalibration — chronically elevated cortisol suppresses mood; treatment works on the cascade rather than the symptom
Cerebral blood flow — improved circulation supports the brain regions involved in mood regulation and emotional processing
Sleep architecture — most mood improvement runs through sleep first; restoring deep sleep is often the single highest-leverage change
Gut-brain axis — the majority of your serotonin is produced in the gut, which is why we treat digestion even when the complaint is mood
Electroacupuncture — for entrenched cases, low-frequency stimulation delivers a stronger, more consistent signal than manual needling alone
Herbal medicine — customized formulas that support the underlying pattern between visits
We work alongside your care, not instead of it. Acupuncture is not a replacement for therapy, psychiatric treatment, or medication, and we will never advise you to change a prescription — that conversation belongs to you and your physician.
What we offer is a third lever: a physiological intervention that addresses the sleep, absorption, and nervous system regulation that talk therapy and medication don't directly reach. Many of our patients run all three simultaneously and find they compound.
If you're in crisis or having thoughts of harming yourself, please call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. That's the right first call, and we'll be here after.

Consistency compounds. Mood work is the least dramatic and most cumulative thing we do — patients rarely walk out of session three transformed, but at session ten they look back at week one and don't recognize it.
There's meaningful research on acupuncture for depressive symptoms, both alone and as an adjunct to standard care, with proposed mechanisms including neurotransmitter regulation, HPA axis modulation, and improved sleep quality. We position it as part of your care, not a replacement for it. Most of our patients see the most durable results when acupuncture runs alongside therapy or medication rather than instead of either.
Yes. Acupuncture doesn't interact with SSRIs, SNRIs, bupropion, mood stabilizers, or anti-anxiety medication. Many patients use both. Never adjust or stop a psychiatric medication on your own — some cause serious discontinuation effects — and always route that decision through your prescriber. Our job is to improve the underlying physiology; what you do with that information medically is between you and your physician.
No, and we'd be suspicious of anyone who said otherwise. Therapy addresses thought patterns, history, and behavior. Acupuncture addresses the physiological state those patterns are running on. They work on different layers of the same problem. Patients often tell us therapy gets more productive once they're sleeping and their baseline stress drops — there's finally bandwidth to do the work.
Sleep usually improves first, often within the first two or three sessions. Physical tension follows. Mood itself typically shifts between weeks four and eight — it's the slowest-moving marker because it's downstream of everything else. Plan for 8–12 sessions before evaluating whether it's working. Judging it at session three is like judging a strength program after one workout.
Yes, and numbness is one of the presentations we see most. Flatness, detachment, and inability to feel pleasure often reflect depletion rather than distress — a system that's been running in survival mode so long it downregulated everything non-essential. Clinically that's a different pattern from agitated depression, and it gets a different treatment approach.
Burnout is one of our most responsive presentations, largely because it's usually straightforward depletion rather than a complex psychiatric picture. The pattern is consistent: chronic sympathetic overdrive, wrecked sleep, suppressed digestion, and an empty tank. Treatment restores the parasympathetic capacity that burnout erased. Most patients notice their recovery between stressors improving before they notice anything else.
Sometimes, and it's completely normal. When the nervous system drops out of fight-or-flight, held emotion often surfaces — it's a release, not a crisis. Kalpesh has seen it many times and it doesn't require a conversation unless you want one. You can lie there, let it happen, and leave feeling lighter. Nobody will make it awkward.
Then take the free strategy call. Ten to fifteen minutes with Kalpesh, no pressure and no obligation — you'll get a straight answer about whether we can help and what it would realistically take. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so.
— WEIGHT LOSS
Let's be honest about what acupuncture does and doesn't do here.
It does not melt fat. There is no point on your body that dissolves a waistline. Anyone promising that is selling you something.
What it does is address the reason your metabolism stopped cooperating — and for a lot of people, that's the actual problem. You're not failing at discipline. You're running a metabolic system that's been dysregulated by years of stress, poor sleep, and impaired digestion, and then blaming yourself for the output.
Here's the chain nobody explains to you: chronic stress elevates cortisol. Elevated cortisol drives insulin resistance and directs fat storage toward the midsection. Poor sleep independently raises ghrelin (hunger) and suppresses leptin (fullness) — so after a bad night, your body actively lobbies for more food and means it. Meanwhile impaired digestion means poor nutrient absorption, and a body that isn't extracting what it needs keeps asking for more.
You've been fighting your own biology with willpower. Willpower loses. Every time.
Your body isn't broken. It's dysregulated. Fix the regulation and the effort you're already putting in finally starts to count.

The temperature question
One of the first things Kalpesh asks: are your hands and feet always cold? Chronically cold extremities alongside stubborn weight and low energy is a circulatory and metabolic pattern, not a coincidence — and it changes the entire treatment approach. Paired with tongue diagnosis, it separates a depleted metabolism that needs to be rebuilt from a constrained one that needs to be moved. Same complaint, opposite treatment. This is the level of detail that generic protocols skip.
Curb cravings. Targeted points help quiet the signals that drive sugar and carb cravings — so you're not white-knuckling your way through every afternoon.
Regulate hormones to boost metabolism. When hormonal rhythm returns, metabolic rate follows. This is where tongue diagnosis gives us an edge — it shows us exactly which systems are running cold, sluggish, or depleted.
Reduce cortisol. Chronic stress tells your body to store, not burn. Downshifting the stress response is often the single biggest unlock.
Appetite control. Treatment helps recalibrate hunger and fullness signals, so portions normalize without a fight.
Ease pain so you can move. If knee, back, or joint pain is keeping you sedentary, we treat the pain first — because an active body is a metabolically healthy body.
Cortisol and HPA axis regulation — lowering chronic stress load addresses one of the biggest drivers of central weight retention and insulin resistance
Appetite signaling — acupuncture influences the hormonal signals governing hunger and fullness, so satiety cues become legible again
Sleep restoration — often the highest-leverage change we make; correcting sleep normalizes the ghrelin-leptin balance that no amount of discipline can override
Digestive function — improved motility and absorption mean your body actually gets what you're feeding it
Blood sugar stability — fewer crashes means fewer cravings, which means fewer decisions made from a deficit
Circulation and metabolic support — this is where the temperature picture matters (below)
Electroacupuncture — stronger, more consistent stimulation for metabolic and digestive points
Herbal medicine — customized formulas that support digestion and energy between visits
Semaglutide and tirzepatide work. They also come with a well-documented set of side effects: nausea, constipation, bloating, delayed gastric emptying, and fatigue — the reasons a large share of patients quit before they get where they were going.
Every one of those is a digestive and nervous system regulation problem. That's our lane.
Acupuncture for nausea is one of the most well-supported applications in the entire field. Add motility regulation for the constipation and delayed emptying, and treatment addresses most of what makes these medications hard to stay on. We're not competing with your prescription. We're making it survivable.
We don't prescribe or advise on GLP-1 dosing — that's your physician's call entirely. We manage the side effects that make you want to stop.
What We Won't Do
We won't hand you a restrictive meal plan or a calorie target. That's not our scope, and honestly, that's rarely the missing piece — most patients walking in here already know more about nutrition than they need to.
We won't promise you a number on the scale or a timeline to reach it. Anyone who does is guessing.
We won't treat this as a cosmetic project. We're treating metabolic function, energy, digestion, and sleep. If those improve and body composition follows, good — but the health markers are the point, and they're what we'll actually track with you.
If food and body image have become a source of real distress, that deserves proper support from a therapist or registered dietitian who specializes in it.
Tell Kalpesh and we'll help you find the right person. We'll still treat you — we just won't be the only thing you have.
Consistency compounds, and it compounds harder here than anywhere else on this page. Metabolic change is slow, cumulative, and nearly invisible week to week. Patients who commit to twelve weeks get results. Patients who come three times and check the scale get frustrated and quit right before the interesting part.
Not directly, and we won't tell you otherwise. Acupuncture addresses the factors that make weight loss difficult — cortisol, sleep quality, appetite signaling, blood sugar stability, and digestive function. It makes your body more responsive to the diet and movement changes you're already making. As a standalone intervention with nothing else changing, expect very little. As support for a body that's been fighting you, expect a lot.
Auricular points are a real component of treatment and we use them. But a single point applied to everyone regardless of their pattern is a novelty, not a treatment plan. Two patients with identical weight complaints can present with opposite underlying patterns — one depleted, one constrained — and giving them the same protocol means one of them gets worse. We treat what's actually in front of us.
Yes, and this is where patients often notice the earliest change. Most cravings are physiological before they're psychological — blood sugar crashes, sleep debt, and cortisol spikes all generate genuine hunger signals that feel like a willpower failure. Stabilize the underlying signals and the cravings quiet down without requiring you to white-knuckle anything.
This is one of the strongest applications we have. Acupuncture for nausea is among the most well-supported uses in the field, and the constipation and delayed gastric emptying respond to motility-focused treatment as well. Many patients who were considering stopping their medication find they can stay on it. Keep your prescriber in the loop on everything medication-related.
Kalpesh will give you guidance specific to your pattern, and it tends to be practical rather than restrictive — often more about timing, temperature, and how you eat than about elimination. We're not going to hand you a rulebook. Many patients find that once digestion improves, they naturally eat differently without forcing it.
Frequently, yes. Long plateaus that don't respond to more effort often reflect an adapted metabolism, elevated cortisol from the effort itself, or accumulated sleep debt — meaning the answer isn't more restriction, which usually makes all three worse. Treatment aims at the regulation rather than adding pressure to a system that's already under too much.
We accept BCBS and UHC/UMR, primarily for chronic pain conditions, so weight-focused treatment typically isn't covered directly. That said, many patients in this category also have chronic back, knee, or hip pain — frequently covered, and treating it makes movement possible, which matters more than most people expect. Call (972) 863-2895 and we'll check your benefits.
Then you're asking for exactly what we treat. Energy, digestion, and sleep are the actual targets — weight is a downstream marker. Plenty of patients come to this section of care with no interest in the scale at all, and they're some of our best responders.
